Nokia, Finland, and Yadro, a Russian computer manufacturer have agreed to set up a joint venture for the production of 4G and 5G base stations in Russia. The production will be deployed at Yadro’s factory in Dubna, currently under construction. Nokia will grant a software license to its partner. The operators believe that the project may increase Nokia's share in the Russian market. However, it needs substantial order quantities. According to Kommersant’s sources, the minimum guaranteed purchases of localized base stations, which would encourage the landing of foreign vendors, exceed € 1 bn.
