The Ulyanovsk Government hopes to build a new 250 MW wind farm in the region. This was announced by Ulyanovsk Governor Sergey Morozov on Tuesday at the ceremony of the first export shipment of wind turbine blades manufactured at Ulyanovsk Vestas and RUSNANO plant.

The Danish Vestas shipped blades for the new Ulyanovsk wind farm with a total capacity of 50 MW to the Ulyanovsk river port. According to the company's management, the second wind farm in Ulyanovsk and in Russia will be ready for industrial operation this December, by which time Vestas will complete its plant in Ulyanovsk and start serial production of blades for wind turbines next year. Danish Vestas intends to localize the production of wind power equipment components in Tatarstan and establish cooperation with national companies. The company has presented wind power plants in the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Republic of Tatarstan this week.

The Dannish Vestas launched the first local production of wind farm equipment in Russia in the Nizhny Novgorod Region investing EUR 5 mln in the project. Wind turbine nacelles will be assembled at the Liebherr site in Dzerzhinsk, and in 2019, production of towers and blades will be launched in the Rostov and Ulyanovsk Regions with the participation of the Wind Energy Development Fund. By 2024, wind farms with the total capacity of 3.35 GW will be established in several regions of the country.
