Grozny inaugurates the first stage of the Russian-Korean innovative lithium accumulator battery plant with the capacity of 30 MWh per annum. The city mayor office reported it to TASS.

"The energy storage system (ESS) plant with the capacity of 30 MWh per annum has been inaugurated in Staropromyslovsky District of Grozny. The project has been implemented by Chechenneftekhimprom (Chechen Petrochem Industry), LLC jointly with KOKAM of Korea. Total investments are RUB 570 mm," TASS was told there.

The future is to see a construction of the second stage of the li-ion battery plant with the capacity of 125 MWh per annum. Total project investments are RUB 7.6 bn. The project and its ancillary production facilities are to create the total of 800 new jobs.

The cornerstone with a time capsule was laid in 2014 and the construction began in 2015.
