A plant for the production of hydroturbines and their components for hydroelectric power plants (HPPs) has opened on Wednesday in the city of Balakovo, Saratov region, the total investment in the project amounted to about RUB 2.5 billion, TASS was informed in the press service of the regional government.

Hydroturbine parts manufacturing plant is a joint venture of Federal company PJSC RusHydro and Austrian corporation. Manufacturing of hydroturbine equipment is scheduled to start in 4Q2017 with gradual driving up to the rated capacity by 2020. This will allow to start modernisation of Saratov Hydroelectric Station and other facilities (hydroelectric plants — note by TASS) in Russia and other CIS countries. Project costs account for RUB 2.2 bln.

Russian and Austrian VolgaHydro plant producing hydroturbine equipment will be built in the city of Balakovo of the Saratov Region by the end of 2017. This information was reported by the press office of the government of the region after the ceremony of putting the first stone at the construction site.

“The future plant is a joint venture of RusHydro and Austrian Voith Hydro.

The investment volume of the project was not mentioned. Earlier it was reported that the investment could be about €50 mln. There will be about 200 jobs created at the plant.
