Kuban to gain access to technologies, while the French company will reduce imports in sales

The Kuban agricultural holding (part of Oleg Deripaska’s Basic Element group) and French seed producer Maisadour Semences will set up a joint venture in Russia. The two companies signed an agreement on the JV in late October, a Kuban representative told Vedomosti. The report was also confirmed by Oksana Krasnyanskaya, the General director of Maisadour in Russia.

Kuban agricultural holding has already begun work to double the capacity of its Ladoga corn calibration plant to 10,000 tonnes of seeds per year, the company representative said. Experiments to grow parental forms of corn and sunflowers as well as work to allocate new lines for hybrid seeds at Kuban farmland will begin in 2016. If the project is successful, the parties may set up a new brand, the representative of the Russian agricultural holding noted. Total investment in the joint project with the French company has not been determined yet, the Kuban representative told Vedomosti. However, Maisadour plans to invest EUR 16–20 million in production, irrigation, selection and equipment for the breeding centre in Russia over the next three to five years, the representative of the French company said.
