Procter & Gamble has launched a feminine hygiene production line at its plant in Novomoskovsk, Tula Region, for the expansion and upgrade of its local production facilities in Russia. The expansion is part of P&G’s strategic investment plan that was presented at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum in 2019. The total investment announced by P&G is ca. RUB 2.5 billion, much of which has been spent for a local production line to manufacture feminine products under the Discreet brand name.

The US Procter & Gamble (P&G) has launched a $20m worth diaper production line at its Novomoskovsk-based facility. From the Tula region, diapers will be channeled not only to the Russian, but also to European markets, Procter & Gamble’s Vice President for Eastern Europe and Central Asia Sotos Marinidis announced at the line opening ceremony.
“Some 20% of the output will be exported, with destinations including the CIS, Middle Eastern and European countries,” Marinidis said.
The new diaper operation became the sixth production line at the Novomoskovsk plant. Over its ten-year history, the plant has invested upwards of $120m in production development. Depending on the product, localization ranges 30 to 60% at the Novomoskovsk plant, running, among other things, on materials supplied by local Tula manufacturers. The remaining proportion is imported.
“P&G is one of the 200 foreign companies that were among the first investors in the Tula region. With a variety of plans, the company proposes to further develop its Novomoskovsk facility,” head of the Tula Region Development Corporation Denis Tikhonov said at the opening ceremony.
