Slovenian Gorenje may start manufacturing equipment in Russia.

Slovenian manufacturer of household appliances Gorenje may launch a production facility in Russian within several years. Management Board President at Gorenje Group Russia Franjo Bobinac shared these plans at IFA 2015 technology fair in Berlin.

Almost 80% of components used by the company in its equipment are manufactured in Europe, and some elements, such as compressors and electric motors, are purchased in Asia. Mr. Bobinac said the company leaves open the possibility of purchasing some equipment components in Russia in the future.

“We believe it is a good idea to buy as many components as possible from Russia, and we are looking at the situation with ruble devaluation. For now, the company has very few Russian partners, but we would like to have a change to purchase Russian parts, steel sheets, compressors and other components in the future,” said Bobinac. In manufacturer’s opinion, Russia could indeed produce many components of their domestic appliances.

According to Bobinac, the company is currently looking at the possibility to localize production. “I am sure that we will have at least one assembly factory in Russian in the future,” he pointed out.
