A joint venture that will produce machine tools with CNC is to open in Yekaterinburg. An agreement on this was signed on July 8 as part of the Innoprom 2015 international industrial exhibition, the regional government’s press service reports.

Documents on the establishment of production were signed by representatives of EMCO Group (Austria-Italy-Germany) and Unimatic engineering center (Russia) in the presence of Sverdlovsk Region Governor Yevgeny Kuyvashev.

The production of EMCOMAT and MAXXTURN turning machines with CNC will begin in the next month at a prepared site at the Unimatic Machine Tool Equipment Center in Yekaterinburg followed by a wider range of modern machine tools with CNC for total output of up to 100 machine tools per year.

“The first knock-down kits have already arrived at the warehouse. The order portfolio for 2015 has been compiled. A plan has been developed for the gradual localization of EMCO machine tool production in the Russian Federation over the next three years. Production at the joint venture will meet the best existing global practices in the production of metal processing equipment,” Unimatic CEO Valentin Tolkachev said.

“Implementing the project will not only allow for creating new modern machine tool production with CNC in the region with a focus on the Russian and external markets, but will also provide integrated technology solutions for the technological upgrade of machine-building enterprises,” Sverdlovsk Region Minister of Industry and Science Andrey Misyura said.
