The joint Russian-Chinese company Lyanban is considering the possibility of constructing facilities for the accommodation of World Cup 2018 fans in Nizhny Novgorod. Viktor Vedenin, CEO of Lyanban, spoke with TASS about this possibility.

According to him, the project would entail the construction of nine 16-story buildings near the football stadium that is currently under construction. The total area of the project may amount to 248,000 sq.m. The total cost is estimated to be 9.3 billion RUB; Lyanban would finance 80% of the total amount. After the championship is over, the buildings will be converted to residential housing.

World Cup 2018 matches will take place from June 14th to July 15th across 12 stadiums and 11 cities in Russia: Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kazan, Nizhny Novgorod, Saransk, Kaliningrad, Volgograd, Yekaterinburg, Samara, Sochi and Rostov-on-Don.

The Chinese corporation Beijing China Sport Construction Co., which took part in the construction of football fields for the 16th Asian Games as well as in the construction of the Olympic stadium in Beijing, is a cofounder of Lyanban.

Other Lyanban projects in Russia include the construction of an air-supported ice palace for 344 seats in Samara, which cost 83 million RUB. As the President of Beijing China Sport Construction Huang Zeng Bo told TASS, the ice palace can start operations as soon as this year. If the project is successful, the company plans to build three more similar sports facilities in other cities in the region.

Moreover, Lyanban is planning to implement a project on the construction of an aqua park with total investment of 6 billion RUB in Gelendzhik.
