Synthos Group S.A.

On Thursday, Rosneft and Italian company Pirelli announced the signing of a memorandum on joint research and development, manufacturing and supply of synthetic rubber with Polish company Synthos. The project will be part of the Eastern Petrochemical Company cluster. A memorandum was signed between Rosneft and Pirelli in 2014. It was at this time that the two companies agreed to find a third partner, with Synthos filling the role of technological partner, according to Pirelli.

The document signed by the three companies involves working out a feasibility study of the factory, which will include a basic design (with operational requirements), market research results and projected investment requirements and operational expenses, Rosneft announced. The agreement concerns cooperation in the manufacturing and supply of synthetic rubber (which is used in the production of so-called green tyres), a Synthos representative added. “The technological partner will bring its expertise in working with complex synthetic rubber compounds, a key product for improving the performance of high-end tyres. Pirelli will provide know-how and the ability to test the capabilities of these new compounds together with Rosneft, the third partner in the deal,” Pirelli CEO Marco Tronchetti Provera told Vedemosti in a recent interview.
