The Agency of Innovative Development of the Kaluga Region reports that the Government of the Kaluga Region, the Council of the City of Kaluga, the Development Corporation of the Kaluga Region and Berlin-Chemie JSC ( a subsidiary of Berlin-Chemie AG/A.Menarini in Russia) have signed a supplementary agreement to the Cooperation Agreement signed in 2010. The supplementary agreement entails the implementation of an investment project on the construction of a new A.Menarini warehousing center in Russia and the acquisition of a large plot of land its construction.

The document was signed by the Governor of the Kaluga Region Anatoly Artamanov, the Mayor of the City of Kaluga Konstantin Baranov, the CEO of the Development Corporation of the Kaluga Region Yuri Ivanov, representatives of the Berlin-Chemie AG (Germany) Dr. Hans-Joerg Kilian and Thomas Olshevsky and the CEO of Berlin-Chemie JSC Dmitri Gurskiy.

The new warehousing complex is to be constructed in accordance with the most up to date GDP (Good Distribution Practice) international standards. The complex is intended to be a continuation of and addition to the development of Berlin-Chemie AG/A.Menarini’s localization project in Russia. Constructing the warehousing complex next to the large Berlin-Chemie AG/A.Menarini pharmaceutical plant (launched in 2013) will allow the company to establish a single logistics and manufacturing complex. The synergy created by the two single supply chain assets will be supplemented by the development of the logistical infrastructure of a major Kaluga technopark and Grabtsevo airport.

Total investment into the new warehousing complex is expected to amount to about 10 million euros. The area of the new land plot where the warehouse is to be constructed is 80,000 square meters.

In 2010, Berlin-Chemie AG/A.Menarini launched the implementation of a large investment project that entails the construction of a pharmaceutical plant in the Kaluga region. The project includes a full-cycle plant for the production of non-sterile solid dosage forms, as well as office, laboratory and warehouse facilities. With continuous support from the administration of the Kaluga region, the project was successfully implemented in the shortest time period and in total compliance with the investment agreement.

Total investment amounts to over 40 million euros, 71 new jobs have been created, and production capacity totals 47 million packages of various drugs per year.
