And it is in the Moscow Region that we continue our development, building one of the largest investment projects of our company," Remy said during the ceremony of laying the first stone of the future logistics center.

Auchan has set about building a meat cutting plant as part of its full cycle production strategy involving the creation of the so-called filières, RIA Novosti reported from the ceremony to celebrate the
Filière (derives from the French fil, meaning “thread”) means an economic model involving an end-to-end production chain, from growing cattle to delivering meat to retail stores. The system permits retailers to expand the range of high-quality products, while affording small and medium-sized businesses new prospects in cooperation with major retailers.
“What we wanted was to have a possibility to monitor the entire production cycle from beginning to end, from how the animals are fed to meat deliveries to the consumer,” General Director of Auchan Russia Wilhelm Hubner said in his speech. He also expressed hope that once implemented, the project would help improve product quality and bring down meat prices in Auchan stores.
Construction is to be completed in November 2016. According to acting head of the Tambov region administration Alexander Nikitin, investment in the meat cutting plant stands at RUB 2.5bn.
The plant’s initial projected capacity of 40,000 tonnes a year is to be expanded to 70,000 tonnes a year by 2020. Auchan General Director observed that it would then cover half of the chain’s total meat trade in Russia. The plant will be equipped to produce all types of meat products.
In turn, Auchan Russia President Jean-Pierre Germain added that the next step along the way would be a warehouse in the Moscow region. Auchan also signed an agreement of intent on Wednesday with a local company, Tambov-Agroinvest, contracting it to invest RUB 329bn and build a slaughtering plant.

Head of the Department for the Development of Livestock of Agricultural Division the Tambov Regional Administration Aleksei Filin explained that the new factory, which will produce 40,000 tonnes of meat per year, will be located near the Magnit distribution centre in the village of Streltsy on the outskirts of Tambov. It will mostly process cattle meat (23,000 tonnes of the 40,000-tonne capacity), as well as pork (15,000 tonnes) and lamb (2000 tonnes). The factory will vacuum package fresh meat and meat-based ready meals.
A total of 2.5 billion roubles (around $38 million has been invested in the project), Filin continued. Construction is set to begin in September, with the launch scheduled for 4Q 2016; a cooperation agreement with the Tambov Region was signed in July.
Following a meeting between Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov and Auchan CEO Wilhelm Hubner, the retail chain announced plans to build another two hypermarkets and five supermarkets in Kazan. In addition, Auchan has long been planning to develop the Atak chain of stores in the capital of Tatarstan.
This news was reported today by Kazan Economic Development Committee Chairman Ildar Shakirov at a meeting of the city’s executive committee.
At present, Kazan has two Auchan hypermarkets at the Yuzhny shopping centre and the Park House shopping and entertainment centre and one store of the Atak chain in a residential area on Saban Street.
“In 2015, we plan to continue developing – we will open the doors to customers at 7 to 12 stores, including in new cities for us such as Barnaul and Magnitogorsk. We will invest in three formats: classic Auchan hypermarkets, Auchan City and Nasha Raduga”, Ubner said.
Tambov Region Governor Oleg Betin has had a meeting with General Director of Auchan Russia Jean-Pierre Germain. Auchan is a French retail chain with stores in many countries. The French guests said they were willing to expand collaboration with the Russian region in animal breeding and meat sales.
“Auchan appeared in Tambov only recently and we welcome your initiative. We are aware that Auchan is part of a group of companies that will be supported by the Russian government, which means the company plays an important role on the Russian market in stabilising food inflation”, Oleg Betin said. “We are experiencing problems with certain items because of price hikes, so we would like to look for solutions to this problem together — to curb inflation and bring life back to normal for those who sell and those who buy.”
The French retail chain promotes cooperation with Tambov stock breeders.
French businessmen have chosen a site for their new project in the Tambov District.
“When it comes to our stock-breeding and meat cutting projects, there are two components. The first one is beneficial cooperation with stock breeders. We will be working with them on animal feeds and genetics and we will naturally guarantee that we will purchase their meat”, General Director of Auchan Russia Jean-Pierre Germain said. “We will therefore be able to guarantee that the meat we will be selling in Auchan — pork, beef and mutton — will be of excellent quality.”
France-based food retailer Auchan will open a new multi-temperature warehouse in St Petersburg.
The new facility will occupy an area of 25,000 square metres and have a cold storage warehouse, a dry heated warehouse, and alcohol storage space. The warehouse is scheduled to open in summer 2015
