Controlling shareholders of Sheremetyevo Airport Aleksander Ponomarenko, Aleksander Skorobogatko and Arkady Rotenberg are in talks to sell some of the shares to Qatar Investment Authority (QIA) sovereign fund, the source from the industry told Interfax.
Top-manager of the major airport told Vedomosti that he heard about negotiations of private shareholders of Sheremetyevo with the Arab fund on selling the portfolio.
Currently, 66% of shares of Sheremetyevo belong to Sheremetyevo Holding, LLC - subsidiary structure of Cyprus TPS Avia, 65% of which are controlled by Skorobogatko and Ponomarenko and 35% by Rotenberg. The remaining 34% of the shares in the airport are owned by Aeroflot and VEB Capital.
It was earlier reported that Qatar Airways plans to acquire 25% of the Moscow Vnukovo Airport. The air hub for the Qatari national airline is Hamad Airport. The latter is operated by Qatar Airways with the support of the QIA. Akbar Al-Baker, Qatar Airways CEO, concurrently holds the office of Hamad CEO.
