Teva, an Israeli pharma producer, localizes its production at the facilities of Russian Nanolek, a Rosnano portfolio company. Representatives of both companies informed Vedomosti that the companies have executed their agreement to the effect on 27 September.
According to Teva's representative, Teva will be producing injection drugs at the Nanolek plant's biotech production facility in Kirov Region.
Israeli Teva Pharmaceutical Industries, one of the world’s largest drug producers, will double the drug production at its Yaroslavl plant to 500 mln pills in 2016.
The Yaroslavl Region pharmaceutical and innovative medicine cluster will soon be able to significantly increase the range and volume of medicines available in Russia, according to the Region’s governor, Sergei Yastrebov.
The Yaroslavl Region is home to several pharmaceutical companies – including foreign companies – that are either getting ready to release or are already producing (often vital) medicines.
“In 2015, full-cycle production of three key medicinal products – Actovegin, Cardiomagnyl and Calcium-D3 Nycomed – will commence at the Takeda factory. The R-Pharm dosage form factory already produces drugs used in the treatment of gastrointestinal diseases and HIV, and anaesthetic drugs (De-Nol, Letrozole, Anastrozole, Bicalutamide, Zidovudine, Sevorane, etc.),” the governor noted. “The range of products manufactured by these companies will expand this year. In addition, they will start using their own raw materials.”
According to Yastrebov, Teva, which also operates in the Yaroslavl Region, produces one billion tablets per year. The company’s estimated production capacity is eight billion tablets per year. It is currently launching two lines for the manufacture of 46 types of medicine.
“We have a very solid asset base. We are continuing our work with the Indian Cadila Pharmaceuticals, which is planning on building a pharmaceutical plant in Krasnoye near Pereslavl-Zalessky. A number of Slovenian companies, and one Indian company, have expressed interest in the region,” Governor Yastrebov concluded.
