Nemak, a company from Mexico, built an auto parts plant in Ulyanovsk Region. Project investments totaled 2.2 bln rubles. The plant will have jobs for almost 300 people.
On 11 September, a new aluminum casting auto parts plant opened in Ulyanovsk Region. The factory belongs to Mexican company Nemak that will manufacture engine blocks and engine cylinder heads for Volkswagen, BMW and Nissan cars. The enterprise is located in Zavolzhye Industrial Area and will offer jobs to 300 people. TASS reports that the plant’s capacity may reach up to 600 thsd part per year.
Nemak was founded in Monterrey in 1979. The company focuses on the production of cylinder heads and blocks, gear box casings and other auto parts. Nemak’s portfolio includes over 30 plants in North and South Americas, Europe and Asia. The company showed interest in Ulyanovsk Region due to its large automotive cluster and a significant number of highly skilled professionals.
Mexican company Nemak is investing 2.2 billion roubles (around $33 million) in the construction of an automotive components factory, its first in Russia. The facility will open in Ulyanovsk this September, the Ulyanovsk Region Development Corporation has reported.
“The opening ceremony is planned for 11 September. The factory will produce 600,000 components per year with the use of aluminium castings,” the Development Corporation said.
The new enterprise will create around 300 high-paying jobs for the region’s residents. Nemak President Armando Tamez said during his visit to the Ulyanovsk Region last year that the company’s main clients will be well-known automakers Volkswagen and Ford.

The plant launch is planned for the spring
A new automotive component plant will be launched into operation in Ulyanovsk in the spring of 2014. Construction of the Nemak RUS plant began in 2014, and installation of modern equipment at the plant is currently in progress. It is expected that the first batch of products is to be manufactured in the spring of this year.
The parts are to be supplied to the Volkswagen plant in Kaluga Region.
The Nemak RUS plant currently employs 50 specialists, but the number is expected to increase to 250 employees in the future. Over 200 people are currently involved in the construction of the plant, which has entered the final construction stages.
