Compagnie Générale des Établissements Michelin

Michelin has expanded the range of products manufactured at its factory in Davydovo, launching the serial production of a new range of hi-tech Michelin Primacy 3 summer tyres.

The launch of Michelin Primacy 3 summer tyres at Michelin’s Russian factory is aimed at meeting the passenger car tyre needs of the domestic market, as well as at strengthening the company’s leading positions in Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Ukraine. The company emphasised that its production facilities in Russia comply fully with international standards, ensuring that the quality of Michelin products is the same all over the world.

“In 2004, we became one of the first global tyre manufacturers to open hi-tech production facilities in Russia,” Michelin Russia and CIS Chairman and President Nicolas Bazire stated. For over ten years, our stable presence on the Russian market has demonstrated steady growth dynamics. This success is largely due to continued investment in improving the infrastructure and effectiveness of the company. The launch of the new range is another step confirming the company’s long-term plans in Russia and its focus on meeting the demands of the Russian consumer.”

“At a difficult economic time, our factory in Moscow Region continues to actively develop production by expanding its range of products,” the Davydovo plant director Gerard Rouquette added. “The fine-tuned production system enables us to react to changing market demands with flexibility and in a timely manner. We are moving forward and are confident in our success.”

Michelin’s Davydovo plant produces 1.5–2 million tyres for passenger cars per year. What is more, the factory has a workshop that restores up to 500,000 truck tyres per year. The 20,000-square-metre ultra-modern MIR logistics centre is also located at the site, with a storage capacity of 240,000 passenger tyres and 80,000 tyres for lorries and trucks. The company has invested around 130 million euros on production and infrastructure on the Davydovo plant since 2004. The factory currently employs about 900 people.
