The Chinese investment and development company Zhouda Group will begin the large-scale construction of three residential neighbourhoods in Yakutia in 2016, the republic’s Minister for Architecture and Construction Vera Kuzakova told TASS.

“The preparatory stage will be completed this year, and in 2016, Zhuoda will move on to the design and construction,” Kuzakova said.

An agreement on the construction of 800,000 square metres of residential buildings in three neighbourhoods was signed between the administration of the Sakha Republic (Yakutia) and the Chinese company in January of this year. The total investment amount in the project is more than 40 billion roubles (around $600 million).

At the present time, Zhouda is in the process of selecting design drafts, engaging contractors and finalizing the project road map. The two sides are working together to resolve the issue of clearing the sites where the construction work is due to begin.

The Ministry noted that this is the first major project to be implemented by Zhouda in Russia and should serve as a “primary indicator of quality for future clients”. Construction is set for completion in 2021.
