Martur (Turkey), the producer of car seats, intends to expand its manufacture in the Ulyanovsk region. Thursday, Sergey Morozov, the Governor of the region, reported to TASS that the enterprise representatives were negotiating with the local authorities in this regard.
The Turkish Martur Company, engaged in the manufacture of components for the automotive industry, will consider the possibility of expanding cooperation with the Ulyanovsk region. The Turkish stakeholder has already invested more than 450 million rubles in production in the Ulyanovsk region. In January 2016, the enterprise started commercial production of car seats. The company manufactures an average of about 700 seat assemblies per day. The main partners of the Ulyanovsk branch of the steel works are Renault in Moscow and AvtoVAZ in Togliatti.
The plant of Turkish Martur has started producing 200 car seat kits per day for Renault Kaptur motorcars, as Sinan Kosoglu, production manager of the enterprise, has informed the journalists today.
Martur will invest EUR 5 million to launch production of its automotive seating systems in Ulyanovsk in December. The company’s Director, Jihan Akyrly, informed journalists of the news during a tour of the plant.
“The facility is now working on test production, with 150 workers, while the number of workers will increase to 300 in the future,” he said.
The plant will reach full capacity in 2016, with its opening ceremony planned for December. Employees will undergo training at Martur Group plants in Turkey and Romania.
The plant will fulfill orders from Renault in Moscow and AVTOVAZ in Togliatti. It will manufacture up to 300,000 seat sets annually.
Turkish car seat manufacturer Martur will invest more than EUR 5 million in a plant the company is opening in Ulyanovsk in October, Deputy Ulyanovsk Region Governor Alexander Smekalin told journalists during an inspection of the plant.
“Pilot production will be launched mid-autumn and some 150 people will be working at the plant site before the end of the year,” he said.
The plant will reach full production capacity in 2016 and the grand opening ceremony is planned for January. Roughly 300 jobs will be created at the plant for the region’s residents. Specialists will undergo training in Turkey at Martur Group enterprises. The company has already begun recruiting employees and sent the first four people to Turkey for an internship.
The plant will fulfill orders by Renault (Moscow) and Avtovaz (Togliatti). If the project is implemented successfully, the company plans to expand and export its products. Previous reports indicated the plant would manufacture at least 150,000 car seats per year. Initial production will take place at a finished building in Ulyanovsk. The company is then planning to build its own facility at one of the region’s industrial parks.
Martur is the third Turkish company working in the region. According to the Ulyanovsk Region’s Ministry of Economic Development, trade turnover between the region and Turkey amounts to USD 3.714 million per year, or 0.7 percent of the region’s total foreign trade turnover.
