A high-tech pipe plant will be put into operation in Tatarstan this year. Turkish Mir Holding and Design Group decided to localize production of plastic pipes from polyethylene and polypropylene in the Alabuga SEZ.
“The plant is planned to be opened this year. Total capitalization: 28 million US dollars. The amount of direct foreign investments at the first phase will total 12 million dollars and 88 jobs will be created. Payback period: 4 to 7 years, which is quite a good indicator for an investment project”, says Taliya Minullina, Head of the Investment Development Agency of the Republic of Tatarstan.
The project is implemented under the auspices of Tatarstan Acting President Rustam Minnikhanov. Before that, the Turkish corporation contacted the Investment Development Agency of the Republic of Tatarstan, which formed a plan of works aimed at further interaction and performed a complex work to assist potential investors, said RT ADA Press Secretary Iskander Akhmedov.
It is also planned that the list of products to be made will include composite pipes continuously reinforced with fiber, Design RTR.
They are characterized by a number of advantages: high compression strength, high corrosion resistance, smooth inner surface (low pumping costs), and flexibility. These qualities make composite pipes quite universal and permit to use them for transporting water, oil, natural gas, chemical substances; they practically need no technical maintenance: the maintenance-free operation guarantee is 50 years. High-tech products will be demanded for implementation of important international projects as well.
An investment project of creation of a specialized organized greenhouse zone is currently developed. The surface area of greenhouse facilities, including an environmentally-friendly greenhouse system, a laboratory, and a logistics center, is planned to reach 1,250 hectares. Capacities will gradually grow over 7 years. The announced amount of investments totals 2.3 billion dollars and 10 thousand people will be employed.
The Turkish company Dizayn Group is to open a plastic pipe works in the Alabuga special economic zone (SEZ) by the end of the year. Today, General Director of the SEZ Timur Shagivaleyev told TAS that the investment in the project would reach USD 15 m.
“Equipment is being installed on the Dizayn Group site and we will be able to start the plant up in the autumn”, he said. The project is intended for production of 23.3 thousand tonnes of output a year.
Shagivaleyev added that the Turkish company had plans to implement another project in Alabuga: construction of hothouses covering a thousand hectares. The project is currently under discussion at the federal with respect to potential state support. The area for the hothouses has been determined and the infrastructure will be established at the project negotiations proceed, he said.
The hothouse complex project was previously presented to the head of Tatarstan. It presupposes growing 500 thousand tonnes of vegetables a year and investing about USD 2 bn. For its implementation, an annual 1.3 bn cubic metres will be needed, as well as about one hundred thousand cubic metres of water a day and several hundred MW of electricity, which Alabuga is prepared to provide.
Alabuga is Russia’s biggest special economic zone of an industrial-production type; it was established in 2005 in the Alabuga District of Tatarstan. The SEZ covers an area of over 40 sq.km. Alabuga has 42 residents and the investments made up to 1 January 2015 amounted to RUB 86.9 bn, including RUB 28.2 bn in 2014.
Since 2005, the SEZ enterprises have produced output worth RUB 133 bn, including RUB 40 bn in 2014.
