Czech Company PBS ENERGO is looking into the possibility of setting up a joint venture in the Urals to build a facility for the manufacture artificial joints, the press service of the Chelyabinsk Region Ministry of Economic Development announced.

“The company is looking into the possibility of setting up a joint venture in the Urals to build a foundry engineering facility, specifically, a factory for the manufacture of prosthetic knee, hip and shoulder joints,” the agency elaborated.

Minister of Economic Development of the Chelyabinsk Region Tatyana Kuznetsova met with the head of the Czech company’s “East” project Jiří Anderle, who said that Russia currently uses imported prosthetic implants. He noted that the quality of Russian prostheses produced using the latest technologies will be just as good as the imported versions, and will be more easily accessible for patients.

PBS ENERGO is a Czech company that specialises primarily in the manufacture and sale of steam turbines for the aviation industry. The production of prosthetic implants is a new business activity for the company, one that PBS ENERGO has “high hopes for”, according to Jiří Anderle. The Chelyabinsk Region was selected as a site for the construction of the facility, Anderele explains, because it is a “promising metallurgical region”.
