The construction of the AW189 utility helicopter production line run jointly by Italy’s Finmeccanica, Rosneft and Rostec Corporation, will get underway next year, CEO of the Italian company Mauro Moretti announced.

“We are planning to start the construction of the plant next year,” he said.

According to Rosneft’s Vice President for Energy and Localization Andrei Shishkin, the first helicopters will be produced in 1.5-2 years.

Earlier, the Italian company, Russia’s oil giant Rosneft and Rostec’s Russian Helicopters signed an agreement granting Rosneft a share in the joint venture HeliVert based on a Moscow region plant.

Today, Moretti divulged that Finmeccanica expects to create a joint venture with Rosneft to localize helicopter production. Additionally, Finmeccanica also cooperates with Russia’s Sukhoi to make SSJ-100 jets.
